De Vlierdenaar Johannes (Johan, Jan) Crooijmans (1890-1969) was broeder bij de missionarissen van het H. Hart in Tilburg.

Hij was het jongste kind uit een gezin van vier kinderen van de landbouwer Johannes Crooijmans (1847-1912) en Johanna van Bussel (1859-1891). Hij bracht zijn jeugd door op Belgeren in de boerderij die enkele maanden voor de dood van zijn vader in 1912 verkocht werd aan de gebroeders Hendrikus en Nicolaas van Rooij.

Hij verloor zijn moeder toen hij anderhalf jaar oud was. Toen hij vier jaar was overleed ook zijn amper 10 jaar oude broer en naamgenoot Johannes. Zijn oudste zus Elisabeth ging ook in het klooster, waar ze de kloosternaam zuster Maria Fulgentia aannam.

In 1912 legde hij de kloostergeloften af als missionaris van het H. Hart. Op 4 december 1919 vertrok hij naar de missie in Nieuw-Guinea. Broeder Crooymans was ook enkele jaren werkzaam in de missie van het vicariaat Ambon (Klein Kei en Mimika). Daarna was hij in meerdere van de kloosters van het H. Hart werkzaam in het tuinbedrijf.
