Notes about Adam Kite

After leaving Virginia and prior to settling in Champaign County, Ohio, it is believed that Adam Kite and his family traveled to Kentucky and possibly even Tennessee. According to the History of Champaign County, Ohio 1881 W. H. Beers & Co., Adam Kite arrived and settled in Champaign County around 1807. The History of the Kite family lists two purchases of land in Township 4 North, Range 11 East, but does not list the dates of the purchase. Early Ohio Settlers, Purchasers of Land in South-western Ohio, 1800-1840, By Ellen T. Berry & David A. Berry, lists only one purchase of land by Adam Kite. This was made on January 9, 1816 and the land was located in Township 4, Range 11, Section 36. But prior to that date, on August 14, 1814 Adam Kite purchased twenty-seven acres from Henry Pence Sr. This land was located in the north east quarter of Section 36. On September 4, 1815 Adam purchased sisty acres and a strip of land from Arnold Custer, which was located in Township 4, Range 11, Section 5. On the 29th of April 1815 Adam sold fifty acres from the southern part of the south-west quarter of the land in Section 30 to Peter Runkle. Then on March 1st 1816 he sold fifteen acres in the north-east corner of the south-west quarter of Section 30 to John Norman.
