Jan Clasen, farmer in Rottum & elder son of Jan Clasen and Luitien Knol only used the surname of his mother's Knol family at a later age. He married Duyrke Harmens and they lived on the house of his parents.
03-26-1653: Bought Hayemaheerd in Warffum from Feyo Sickinghe. The farm with a tightness of 88.5 yoke (± 44 ha) cost 13,490 Caroli guilders, plus 2 golden ducats with cattle and herds.
04-06-1654: sells it to son Derck Jans Knol and wife Aaltjen Jacobs, who are accepted as meyers by Feyo Sickinge.

Their gravestones are located near the church of Rottum. "Anno 1662, the 30th of April, the honorable Jan Claessen Knol is very calmly at ease in the gentlemen, expecting a salutary resurrection in Christo".

Hun grafzerken liggen bij de kerk van Rottum. "Anno 1662, den 30 apryll, is den eerbareb Jan Claessen Knol seer chrystentlycken in den heeren gerust, verwachtende een salige opeerstandinge in christo".
