Notes about Jan Clasen


Johan Claessen obtained guild rights in 1538 and is mentioned in the account of the monastic goods. He was Provinciemeyer, i.e. he rented approx. 100 grazing land from the province from the land of the former Rottum monastery. He first appears in 1595 as Johan Claessen. Luytyen, the widow of salige Johan Claessen, is mentioned as early as 1596. Johan will therefore have died in 1595 or early 1596.

Johan Claessen verkreeg het gilderecht in 1538 en komt voor in het rekeningboek van de kloostergoederen. Hij was provinciemeyer d.w.z. hij huurde ca. 100 grazen land van de provincie uit het landbezit van het voormalige klooster Rottum. Hij komt in 1595 voor het eerst voor als Johan Claessen. Reeds in 1596 wordt vermeld Luytyen, de weduwe van salige Johan Claessen. Johan zal dus in 1595 of begin 1596 overleden zijn.
