Tijdens de 1e wereldoorlog 1914-1918 is hij samen met zijn ouders en broers gevlucht naar het neutrale Nederland.


Op 14-06-1916 is hij terug te vinden in het Bevolkingsregister van Gilze.


5 jaar later verhuisd hij met de rest van het gezin Willemen naar Oud en Nieuw Gastel waar zij op Vrijdag 1-08-1921 aankomen.


Op Maandag 4 Augustus 1921 worden hij samen met zij ouders, Oma (Maria Roksnoer) en broer Leonardus, ingeschreven in het bevolkingsregister van Oud en Nieuw Gastel.


Op 15 Jarige leeftijd komt hij in Oudenbosch aan en op 30-04-1923 wordt hij ingeschreven op het Jongensinternaat/Kweekschool Saint Louis te Oudenbosch, waar hij het vak van Onderwijzer gaat leren.
