Geboren en deels opgegroeid in Gilze (onder Rijen).


Op 04 Mei 1878 vetrokken naar Huijbergen.


Op 17 April 1880 is hij weer ingeschreven in de gemeente Gilze.


Op 3 September 1884 is hij weer uit Gilze vetrokken naar Oosterhout.


Op 17 Februari 1885 is hij weer teruggekeerd naar Gilze, waar hij op 23 Februari 1885 weer is ingeschreven in het bevolkingsregister, met Bakker als beroep.


op 28 Januari 1899 vertrokken naar Borgerhout (België), en na zijn huwelijk met de Belgische Maria Ludovica Groenen, terecht gekomen in het Belgische Zwijndrecht.


Daar werden ook de 3 zonen geboren in respectievelijk 1906-1908 en 1911.


Tijdens de Eerste Wereldoorlog, tussen 1914 en 1918, vluchtten tienduizenden Belgen de grens over naar het neutrale Nederland.


Officieel was ook België, net als Nederland, neutraal tijdens de oorlog.


Op 4 augustus 1914 viel Duitsland België binnen, zonder formele oorlogsverklaring. Al meteen na de inval kwam de vluchtelingenstroom richting Nederland op gang. De eerste dag al kwamen 52 Belgische soldaten naar Nederland. Toen op 10 oktober 1914 Antwerpen viel, vluchtten naar schatting 1 miljoen burgers naar Nederland.


Ook dit gezin was er daar één van.


 


Het hele gezin ging naar Gilze (onder Rijen) waar Jacobus oorspronkelijk vandaan kwam, om zo aan het oorlogsgeweld en de vermeende wreedheden van de Duitsers te ontkomen.


Op 14 Juni 1916 werden zij, inclusief zijn moeder Maria Roksnoer, in het bevolkingsregister van Rijen ingeschreven.


Na een paar jaar vertrok het gezin weer uit Gilze en op 1 Augustus 1921 kwamen zij in Oud-Gastel terecht, alwaar zij op 4 Augustus 1921 werden ingeschreven in het bevolkingsregister.


Daar kocht hij in 1927 voor 10.000 Gulden een bakkerij met volledige inboedel over, die hij in de jaren daarna nog voorzag van een winkeltje in religieuze en kantoorartikelen. In 1935 deed hij dezevolledig over aan zijn Oudste zoon.
