Beroep: Meester in de Rechten (Indisch Recht), Griffier landsraad te Pasoeroean (1932), Ambtenaar ter beschikking van de President Raad van Justitie in Soerabaja (1932), Landrechter (Djokjakarta), directeur van een N.V.

Na afronding van zijn studie Indisch Recht trouwen Albert Leydesdorff en Celine (Lientje) van Praag. Ze nemen de boot naar Batavia (N.I.).

In 1933 wordt Lien secretaris van het Kunstgarantiefonds van Pasoeroean en een jaar later samen met haar man adviserend lid van het bestuur van de Nederlandsch-Indische Zionistenbond in Batavia.

Als ambtenaar ter beschikking van de president, en griffier van de Tweede Kamer van het Hooggerechtshof van Nederlandsch Indië wordt Albert in 1937 een verlof van acht maanden naar Europa verleend. De Middelburgsche Courant meldt hun aankomst. Na de terugreis vestigen Albert en Lien zich in Hotel Tjikini in Batavia en wordt Albert belast met de waarneming van tijdelijk buitengewoon voorzitter van de landraad in Djokdjakarta en in januari 1940 benoemd tot landrechter aldaar.

Op 08-12-1941, de dag na de Japanse aanval op Pearl Harbour, verklaart Nederland de oorlog aan Japan. Albert Leydesdorff is gemobiliseerd als officier. Na een korte militaire training neemt hij deel aan de gevechten. Drie maanden later geven de geallieerde troepen in Nederlands-Indië zich over.
In maarrt 1942 worden de militairen, waaronder Albert, opgesloten in krijgsgevangenkampen. Later dat jaar wordt de Europese burgerbevolking geïnterneerd in kampen. Dit lot treft ook Lien Leydesdorff-van Praag. Albert komt in het Militair Kamp Bandoeng terecht en Lien in Kamp Moentilan.
