2. Margaret Beveridge and William Archibald were witnesses at Margarets brother Thomas's marriage to Janet Ness in 1872 at Coaledge. They were married the next year!

3. William died 19 April 1901 after an accident in Marion Pit, Donibristle (See Media). (Marion Pit was on the South side of the A92, west of the Cowdenbeath slip road)

William Archibald, Miner, 50, Explosions of fire damp or coal dust. Deceased was taking off coal from the side of a stoop when the coal suddenly gave a burst; to escape injury he threw himself back and his head came into violent contact with a rail. He died from his injuries 4 days afterwards

Fatal Accident In Fife Pit - William Beveridge (50), a miner, residing Toll Row, Donibristle, was badly injured about the head and shoulders yesterday while employed at the Marion Pit, Donibristle Colliery, by piece of coal weighing two cwts falling upon him. He was conveyed to Dunfermline Cottage Hospital, where he died this morning from the effects of the injuries. [Evening Telegraph 19 April 1901]

      William Beveridge, fifty years of age, miner, Toll Row, Donibristle, met with an accident on Thursday, which terminated fatally. He was at work in the underground workings of the Marion Pit, Donibristle, when a piece of coal, weighing about 2 cwts, fell upon him. He was struck on the head and neck, and his spine was injured. He was conveyed to the Dunfermline Cottage Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries at one o'clock yesterday morning.

      This issue carried the report of the Fatal Accident Inquiry, held on Monday at Dunfermline Sheriff Court, into the death of William Archibald. Among those giving evidence were:- Alex. Nasmyth, manager; Robert Beveridge, miner, Toll Row, Donibristle; Abraham Archibald, miner, Toll Row, Donibristle (son of deceased); John Baxter, colliery manager, Frosty Mountains (oversman in charge); and, William Cook, pit inspector, Cowdenbeath. The Jury returned a formal verdict.
