4. Sent to Scotlands People 27.11.2019, Andrew Mercer, record of birth 20/08/1830 (434/ 40 191 Kennoway) refers to his brother, William Mercer, b. 20/08/1830. The record firstly records Andrew’s birth, but the name Andrew is scored out, and replaced with William. William’s brother, Andrew Mercer, was born 9/04/1824 and is recorded at 434/0040 0012 Kennoway. Incidentally, on the same page there is a birth record of Alexander, b. 1/04/1827, Andrew and William’s brother.
The funny thing is, in the next record on 434/ 40 191 Kennoway, the above Andrew Mercer’s (b. 1824) daughter, Isabella, her birth, recorded as 05/04/1845, the Andrew Mercer to which the original record refers to!!!!
Weird stuff indeed.

5. On the next page of the register from Wemyss the marriage of Liz's Great Grandparents Robert Stein and Euphemia Wilson are recorded married on 7 August 1846

      Andrew Mercer and Agnes Dunsire:

At a Jury Court held on Thursday at Cupar, Andrew Mercer, Kennoway, was sentenced to three months' imprisonment, without the option of a fine, for kicking and otherwise maltreating his wife. It was stated in defence that the woman was of dissipated habits, and that the injuries had only been inflicted in self-defence, but Sheriff Bell said there was no justification for a man assaulting his wife.
