3. James Mercer, Easter Kennoway, Old Parish Register of Deaths. Burial, July 23, 1844, Kennoway Charge for Mortcloth 2/6d, 434/40 293. This is the only burial in Fife of a James Mercer on Scotlands People between 1802 and 1851.
4. 1841 Census, only James Mercer's name in household. Other houses in Easter Kennoway on same page in 1841 census appear to name only heads of household. A check between the 1851 and 1841 shows matching people in both censuses. (The area covered by Easter Kennoway in both census has a Kenmount (Kenmont) Cottage in 1841, and a Kenmont Lodge in 1851. The matching names are in the same order on both census. It is believed that James died between censuses, as Isobel was Head of household in 1851 census, and James Mercer, possibly mort cloth dues of 2/6d on 23 Jul. 1844.
