"Mr. Dan Niewkirk came from Mass[achusetts] to meet us in Brooklyn - he was a friend of my father and I think we went by train to Woster [sic] Mass. Mr. Niewkirks [sic] folks lived in Rotterdam. We got to the USA on Christmas day. Had a very bad winter in Woster [sic] and left in the spring. My mother was so homesick she passed away the folowing [sic] January."
