Notes about Willem Antonie Genneken

According to Chris Genneken (b. 1893), "[h]e was an imposing man with a long beard, who was well-known in the business and social circles of Rotterdam where he had a printing business. He and my grandfather [Christiaan Genneken] organized the "Penny Society for the Blind." When my daughter Dorothy and I visited Holland in 1954, we saw on the hotel desk the slotted collection box of the society which at this time must have been close to a hundred years old. My father also became a director and he was active in it until his departure to the United States. My father's uncle [Willem Antonie] was decorated by the old Queen with the medal of the Order of Orange Nassau. He always wore its orange colored rosette in his lapel...."
