1903 : Boarding School in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.
1910 : Went to Glasgow to attend High School.
1916 : Married Lydia MURGATROYD at 119 Bowman St, Glasgow (her parentGÅ ??????à?????????????/s home).
1918 : Graduated from the Royal Technical College, Glasgow, Scotland.
1919 : Moved to Yokohama, Japan.
1923 : Alfred survived the great earthquake of 1 Sep - having just left his office and was in the street two minutes before noon, He described his survival to GÅ ??????doing the fancy jigGÅ ??????à?????????????/ to stay on his feet and on top of all the rubble that was filling the streets. He managed to avoid being buried by falling buildings. He was later able to escape the fire and get aboard a ship in the harbour. Luckily Tansy and the boys were at the summer resort of Unzen Hot Springs in the mountains on the day of the earthquake - there to avoid the stifling heat of Yokohama in late summer.
1924-38 : Worked for Babcock & Wilcox, Yokohama.
1938 : Retired but carried on a small export business (Stamps for dealers and collectors).
1953 : Tansy died.
1955 : Married Erma McGUIRE, a nurse that was a neighbour and friend in Victoria. Together they operated a stamp shop for many years on fort Street, living in an attached apartment behind the store.
1987 : Died in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.
