Notes about Jakob Nijborg

Jakob Nijborg was beurtschipper/vrachtrijder/brandstofhandelaar. Zelfmoord (opgehangen). In juli 1919 wordt Jacob in verband gebracht met de zwangere Henderika Kruijer: die onder voogdij staat van haar stiefvader Roelof Boven, arbeider te Annerveen. Er wordt ter zake een proces-verbaal opgemaakt ten behoeve van de voogdijraad. Volgens de burgemeester staat Henderika gunstig bekend, al weet hij niet of zij zich met andere jongens pleegt af te geven. Zij is onvermogend en tot op heden nog niet bevallen. Jakob verdient f 15,= f 16,= per week en is werkzaam in dienst van zijn vader (Brief burgemeester Rmelingh, Anloo d.d. 26-7-1919, nr.209). Henderika is in 1895 geboren, oudste dochter van Jacob Kruijer en Lammechien Pepping. Het gezin woonde in 1898 in een arbeiderswoning aan de Broekdijk 1 te Oud-Annerveen.
Huwelijksproblemen dreven Jacob in 1941 tot zelfmoord (verhangen) (Mondelinge info L. Nijborg). In januari 1919 wordt het verzoek van Jacob, arbeider te Annen afgewezen om als erkende handelaar in mollenhuiden op te treden. Het provinciaal bestuur overweegt hierbij dat een machtiging niet wordt verleend aan personen ''die te hooi en te gras een mollenhuidje verhandelen.'' (Beschikking CdK Drenthe, Assen d.d. 7-1-1919, nr.160/123).
Harmina voer later met haar zoon op de bolpraam Harmina van 57 ton. Waarschijnlijk werd vooral turf als brandstof vervoerd.
