Een moeder zonder kinderen en een vervangende grootmoeder voor onze kinderen. Een titel waar ze trots op was. Warm, vriendelijk en belangstellend en een symbool. Nog zie ik tante Lena uit de bus stappen, heel veel tassen bij zich en een nieuwe hoed op. Als kind was ik altijd verwonderd en verbaasd wat zij allemaal bij zich had en wat er allemaal in zo'n tas kon. Voor mijn gevoel leek daar geen eind aan te komen. Alles goed ingepakt en beschermd. Zelfs haar schoenen trok zij af en toe een extra jasje aan. Altijd was zij druk en bezig. Tante Lena. Eigenzinnig en standvastig. Niet altijd gemakkelijk en al helemaal niet voot zichzelf. Een gelovige vrouw. Een vrouw met een brede en ruime belangstelleng. Op haar manier stond zij midden in de maatschappij en daar wilde daar ook deel van uitmaken. Pratend over verleden en toekomst en wat zij in haar werk had meegemaakt. Zij wilde ook dát met ons delen. Een volgend voorbeeld: tante Lena op haar tachtigste verjaardag, rondlopend en druk pratend met iedereen. Van tevoren zenuwachtig of alles wel goed zou gaan. Achteraf fijn vinden dat er zoveel mensen op haar verjaardag zijn gekomen. Tante Lena. Er zijn veel meer beelden die wij met elkaar delen en die iedereen met zich meeneemt. Tanta Lena. Nu is zij er niet meer en dit laat voor mij een niet op te vullen leegt achter. Er is geen Vreeswijkstraat meer en er zijn geen telefoontjes. Het voelt alsof banden zijn verbroken. Tante Lena. Ik vind het fijn u gekend te hebben en wil mijn beelden herinneren en koesteren en af en toe met anderen delen. Voor de manier waarop i in het leven stond ka ik alleen maar bewondering en respect op brengen. Ik hoop dat u rust vind. Dag tante Lena.+++
