Steven Teeple served two enlistments in the northern army in the Civil War. I have heard my father tell many stories about him. He was wounded in the leg at New Bern, N. Carolina. He refused to let the surgeons amputate his leg and died as a result of it. I knew the widow of the man who was his friend and tried to look out for him. His name was Green and afterwards became a Methodist minister. He said that he thought if he could have stayed and taken care of him he would have lived. Steven Teeple is buried at New Bern, N.Carolina.
