Carel is geboren in Nederland en opgegroeid in een ver tropisch land: Nederlands-Indië. Als tiener getekend door het Jappenkamp keerde hij later terug naar zijn vaderland. Een aantal verloren jaren werden ingehaald door hard te werken aan zijn toekomst. Hij vond snel zijn grote liefde en stichtte een klein gezin. Ziekte en tegenslagen werden overwonnen en zijn kleinkinderen gaven hem veel vreugde. De grootste ramp in zijn leven was het overlijden van zijn vrouw op 60-jarige leeftijd. Vol van verdriet moest hij alleen verdergaan. Troost vond hij in zijn hondjes en samen waren zij lange tijd een bekend gezicht aan de Achilleslaan te Eindhoven. Regelmatig bezocht hij zijn moeder in Nijmegen, maar na haar overlijden kreeg hij steeds vaker te maken met ziekte en gebreken. Het laatste jaar werd hij liefdevol verpleegd in zorgcentrum Brunswijck, waar hij uiteindelijk vredig is ingeslapen. Een lieve, zorgzame man is heengegaan.
