In 1903 staat de Fa. Van Heek en Co. eenzaam aan de top met 1805 werknemers. Nico ter Kuile op de tweede plek telt dan 810 werknemers. Fa. G.J. van Heek en Zonen staat dan op de derde plek met 576 werkenemers, Gerhard Jannink en Zonen op de vierde plek met 574 werknemers.

1905, 16 aug, J.H. van Heek te Enschede krijgt vergunning No. 1945 voor het rijden op rijkswegen met een auto op onbekende brandstof.

1922 - uit de nalatenschap van zijn vader verkrijgt hij ·ÄòVaders Velden en nog een heideveld·Äô.

1943 - Uit ·ÄúHorizon City·Äù door Jaap Scholten: ·ÄúJan van Heek haalde op 3 februari 1943 de Enschedese fabrikanten voor vertrouwelijk overleg bij elkaar in een vergaderkamer van de Twentsche Bank om een geheim fonds voor Joodse onderduikers te vormen. De fabrikanten reageerden snel. Rigtersbleek en Van Heek & Co gaven per bedrijf 39.000 gulden aan het fonds; Gebr. van Heek 25.000 en J.F. Scholten & Zonen 18.000 en nog ongeveer 15 fabrikanten met iets kleinere bedragen tot een totaal van 233.850 gulden Een groot bedrag in 1943. Uit deze pot werden de onderduikers, gecoördineerd door Overduin, verzorgd.·Äù
