Burnley, Lancashire, seizoen 1884/1885 - Jan Bernard van Heek speelt als linksbuiten mee in het elftal van de ·ÄúBurnleyu Manufacturers·Äù. Hij speelt niet onverdienstelijk en heeft een aandeel in de beide treffers die wedstrijd. Daarop neemt hij een voetbal mee terug naar Nederland, alwaar hij het voetbal introduceert.

Enschede, 30 juni 1885 - oprichting van de Enschedese Football Club Prinses Wilhlemina onder leiding van Jan Bernard van Heek. Dit is de eerste voetbalvereniging in Nederland!

Nieuwe Gorinchemsche Courant, 12 augustus 1915: ·ÄúGebrek aan garens. De firma Van Heek & Co. te Enschede, zal al hare weverijen behalve Kremersmaten, deze week slechts vier dagen laten werken wegens gebrek aan garens. De maatregel treft 2000 arbeiders.
