Het enige Goudse aan het Fragment Rees Gouda is dat willem Cornelis Rees de legaten aan zijn neven en nichten onderbracht in de Goudse Weescamer. Kennelijk komt de famile uit Woerden en Omstreken. De roerige tijden van de Frans-Engelse Oorlog in 1672 hebben kennelijk voor verspreiding gezorgd. De tijden lijken ook door te werken in de betreffende akten want deze zorgden voor hoofdbrekers.
