Aletta Barendina VAN DER SPUY (ged 24 Junie 1792 op Stellenbosch). Sy was ’n agterkleinkind van die stamvader Melt van der Spuy (ged. 4.4.1688 in Rotterdam Nederland, seun van Jacob van der Spuy. enCryntje van Leeuwen, en genoem na sy oom Mel(d)t Janse van Leeuwen.) Kom op 26 Mei 1708 hier aan op De Schellenberg as soldaat in diens van die V.O.C. In 1713 is hy na Nederland op die skip De Donauw, maar het in 1714 op De Kiefhoeck teruggekeer as adelbors. Burger in 1715; luitenant van die Burgerkavallerie. Hy was 'n ondernemende sakeman en o.a. pagter van 'n kwartgedeelte van die wyn- en brandewynlisensie. Oorl. 26.10.1734 en in die kelder van die kerk in Kaapstad begrawe. Trou 14.6.1716 met Maria van der Poel, geb. 7.2.1694, oorl. 23.8.1770, dogter van Pieter van der Poel, van Leiden (Nederland), en Johanna Viandt, van Amsterdam (Nederland) (8 kinders).
