This day 16th of July 1851 being are showed for us subscribed official of the ban of the city of Amsterdam in the house of the city to be married Abraham Gerrit Scheffer, cigarmaker, born and living here, 23 years of age, majority age, son of Gerrit Aron Scheffer commissioner and Roosje Abraham Goedendag living here on this (side) and Schoontje Hartog Groen, needlewoman born and living here 28 years of age majority of age, daughter of Hartog Philip Groen without profession and Mietje Emanuel Hond living here on the other side. And

Declared both parents present here admit in this marriage.

Both declarations of this marriage have taken place without prevention, here the 6th and the 13th (this month)'Further' being showed the first: certificates of birth of the engaged couple.

'After when we asked them whether they took each other as man and wife and trustly accomplish all duties which are connected by the law are …and saying Yes, we declared in the name of the law, that they are coupled by marriage'. (I can't translate this civil servant sentence)

In presence of Samuel Jacob Kops, without profession, 63 years of age, Meijer van Duin(or m), torfporter 32 years of age, Jonas Salomon Balom, musician, 36 years of age and Aron Hartog Rood, hawker, 24 years of age all living here
