Notes about Jeanette Jacoba Adema


Jeanette Van Leeuwen, age 96 of Lynden, was taken to be with her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, April 7, 2009.

The daughter of Jacob and Susan (Reimersma) Adema, Jeanette was born in Carnes, Iowa and later moved with her family to Lynden and graduated from Lynden High School in 1930.

She married Roy Van Leeuwen in 1932 and in 1960 they moved to Spokane; Jeanette returned to Lynden following Roy's death in 1983.

A homemaker, Jeanette was an active member of Second Christian Reformed Church. She also enjoyed gardening and volunteering her time at the Hope Chest in downtown Lynden.

Mrs. Van Leeuwen is survived by her children, Dodie Perry of Bellingham, Marlene (Marlin) Dorhout and Linda (Bruce) Bonnema of Denver and Joyce (Heiko) Veldman in Burnsville, MN; nine grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and other relatives.

Memorial funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, April 14, at 2:00 pm in Second Christian Reformed Church, 8th & Front Strs., Lynden with Pastor Mark Davies officiating. Private burial will precede in Monumenta Cemetery.

Memorials in Jeanette's name may be made to the Second Christian Reformed Church, 710 Front St., Lynden, WA 98264 or to the Lighthouse Mission, P. O. Box 548, Bellingham, WA 98227.
