JOE KOOPS
DISPATCH, Kan. The funeral for Joe Koops, 90, Downs, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Christian Reformed Church here, the Rev. Peter DeJong officiating. Burial will be in the Dispatch Cemetery.
Mr. Koops died Thursday at the Smith County Memorial Hospital, Smith Center.
He was born Sept. 20, 1887, on a farm south of Dispatch. He had farmed in the Downs and Dispatch communities most of his life. He was a member of the Dispatch Christian Reformed Church, and had served for several terms as a church elder. He had served on the school board and township board in Lincoln township in Smith County.
Surviving are his wife, Jessie, of the home; four daughters, Carol Koops and Joyce Koops, both of the home; Mrs. Ileen Tanis, Downs, and Mrs. Rose Nyhoff, Denver, Colo.; and four sons, Bert and Chester, both of Downs; Roland, Cawker City, and John, Denver, Colo.
The family suggest memorials to the church building fund or to the Elim Christian School for the Handicapped, Palos Heights, Ill.
Friends may call at the Domoney Funeral Home, Downs, between 7 and 9 p.m. Sunday.
