Notes about Thomas JUDD

Families of Ancient New Haven by Donald Lines Jacobus, pg. 636

Thomas Judd and His Descendants by Sylvester Judd, pg. 37, 38

"He was a Deputy to the General Court from Waterbury, five or six times, and his cousin, Deac. Thomas Judd, was a Deputy with him from W. at five sessions. He must have been a school teacher, for he is sometimes called in deeds, Thomas Judd, schoolmaster. He purchased or inherited a large farm in Farmington, next to the Hartford line, and he removed from Waterbury to this farm around 1709. He afterwards bought land in Hartford, adjoining his farm, and he build on his Hartford land and lived in West Hartford until his death, Aug. 24, 1724. His home farm and two houses and other buildings, were appraised at L410, and he had other lands, and gave land to each of his daughters. His children were all born in Waterbury, except the youngest. His age was not far from 61.

This Thomas Judd, his brother John Judd, and his cousin Deac. Thomas Judd, and William Judd, son of the latter, each held the office of Town Clerk of Waterbury, between 1696 and 1720. The penmanship of one or two of them is awkward."

Thomas had one son and five daughters who survived him. A son and daughter died in their childhood, and another daughter died at age 28. Lived in Waterbury. Thomas Judd, Esq.
