He has/had a relationship with Louise Rasmussen.
George and Louise owned and operated a successful farm project near Dallas, Oregon until George passed away November 26, 1945. Louise continued to carry on the operation. George was a diligent and hard worker with little time for the pleasures of life. He found his pleasures in a job well done, a clean field and fence row, modern well maintained buildings and an efficient operation. George enlisted in the U.S. Marines during WW1and was severely wounded and left for dead on the battlefield at Chateau Thierry in France. He had suffered a severe head wound, thought to be fatal, but a burial party noting that his body was not rigid took him to a field hospital where his wounds were given attention. He spent many months in hospitals recovering from the effects of his wounds. While recuperating, he attended Oregon State College to study scientific farming methods which applied to good advantage on his own farm later.
