Robert was in St. Paul's Vestry book until 1743. Then appears in the newly formed County of Lunenburg Co. formed in 1745. By 1757 he was in Amelia Co., VA where he was a grantor. By 1761 Robert & wife Elizabeth were residents of Granville Co., N. Carolina.

Robert also purchased land in Amelia Co., VA in 1759 from John & Elizabeth Hayes, of Lunenburg Co.
