"Hello I'm seeking family based in Ohio area at the turn of the century.

WE have an Albert, Michael, Augusta, Amelia. One of the sisters had the nickname of "Toot". Augusta was born in Europe, the rest were born in US. Augusta married John Daggett and had a daughter named Ethel, born Elyria Ohio in 1901. Amelia married a Druer I believe. Are you or have you been contacted by my family. Thanks Sue Denton via Augusta Navorska"

I've heard that the Navorskas came from aristocracy in Russia. Have you ever heard that story? I know that they spoke German, not Polish or Russian. I do know that Augusta and Louis lived very modestly the whole time that I knew them, but she would say little things like tuck your napkin in at your chin, that's the way they do it on boats. There were also a few fine linens and crystalpieces that were not from poor people. That was all that was left after the Depression; there were also several nice diamonds that were cut in Europe. I've heard about them owning small hotels with saloons, owning at least one boardinghouse, having property in San Francisco, then coming to southern California where we have photos of them building two houses. I've heard of them having servants to being servants during the Depression. I've heard that they allowed theirtenants to stay even after they could no longer pay, and they sold what they could to keep food in all those mouths. I heard that their travels were as companions. But usually companions are single people, so I doubt that. Our side of the family was not very prolific. Ethel Augusta was any only child. She had three kids. One, Kendall Wallace Kirkpatrick died of TB in 1939 or so. Merle Lois K. had three kids. Susanna Marie had two kids, Paul Curtis, born 1966, two daughters, and Dawnne Kathleen, born 1970, three sons. Merle's two sonshad no children. They are Patrick William Wheeler and Timothy Wallace Wheeler. Ethel's third child, Yvonne Marie K. adopted a son, Carl Wayne Durbin born 1957. I was told that after having Ethel, Augusta ran away and joined the circus where she had a whistling act and rode a horse. We have many photos of Augusta and her spouses on tours, but Ethel is in none of them. I heard she was farmed outto the sisters while Augusta enjoyed life. I have no proof of much of this. Ethel was very good at playing cards and could shuffle like a pro. Supposedly this is from the saloon days, when as a little girl she was also given $5.00 gold pieces for allowance. Augusta took care of Ethel's kids while Ethel had TB for many years. Augusta and Louis lived very near Ethel and Claude for the last 40 or more years of their lives, often on the same property, but not the same house. So I guess she gotthings out of her system and became a good Mom. If this gets to be boring or more than you want to know, please tell me. I would like to know about Augusta's family. I saw her every week of my life until she died when I was thirteen years old. She didn't talk much, but we did lots of little great grandma things together. I have many four generation photos. Catch you next time."
