'1, [Cole] Sherman G., 5, male, white, At home, b. OH'
It is my hypothesis that the Grant Cole writen by Bruce Berkey is the same as Sherman G. on the 1870 census. - D.A. Navorska - 2N1997 - Irving TX
Cole, David P., Questionnaire, (Fulton Co OH, Bureau of Pensions, 4 June 1898)
'Fifth. Have you any children living? If so, please state their names and the dates of their birth. Answer. 'William C Cole Born November 10th 1864 Enetie Della Cole Born June 21 1870'
Mary claims 4 children of whom 2 are living at the time of the 1900 census. In order for the counts to work, Grant Cole & William C Cole must be the same man. The way William C Cole is written is different than the 'C' in the name inEnetie Della Cole & is different than the 'C' in David's signiture. David might have meant William G Cole, but erred by using a 'G' instead of a 'C' to begin Cole in William's family name. If the middle initial is 'G' then the 'G' mightbe for Grant. - D.A.
