Mrs. Jess Hoke and son, Charles, and daughter Pearl Elizabeth, left Sunday for Malta where she will spend a week in the home of her parents.
2005 Chuck developed lung cancer. January 7, 2006 he died of pneumonia in a Missoula, Montana hospital.

Charles E. ‘Chuck' Hoke
DARBY - Charles E. “Chuck” Hoke, 64, of Darby, passed away Saturday, Jan. 7, 2006, at St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula.He was born April 19, 1941, in Washoe, the son of Jesse Lee and Alta Ann Hoke. Chuck was raised and educated in Roundup. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1959 and served until his honorable discharge in 1962.
Chuck married Cheryl Lehmkuhl on Dec. 15, 1962, in Billings. He worked at a packing plant and also built houses until moving to Darby in 1979.
Chuck continued his construction trade in Darby as he began building log homes. He also drove school bus for the Darby School District until his health forced him to retire in 1992.Chuck was a lifetime member of the VFW, North American Hunting Club, Handyman's Association and the Good Sam Club. He was an avid craftsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Chuck also loved going to auctions and rarely missed one.
He specialized in aluminum cut-outs, having sold them worldwide. His most enjoyable times were in the back of his shop piddling with his aluminum. Chuck's greatest love was his family. He was loved by many and will be missed by all who knew him.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Labecca Ann Hoke, sister Lilly Brown, brother Lee Hoke, his father-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is survived by his wife, Cheryl, of Darby; son Jerry Hoke of Darby; daughter Edna Cole and husband Donald of Darby; son Bruce Hoke and wife Mary of Woodside; son Jackie Hoke and wife Shanny of Darby; 15 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four sisters, Thelma Bailey of Salt Lake City, Dora Jackson of Belfry, Dolly Yates of Powell, Wyo., and Mickey Thiel of Butte; one brother, Roy E. “Bud” Hoke of Sheridan, Wyo.; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives; and his four canine companions.
Visitation will be 3-6 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 10, at the Daly-Leach Chapel in Hamilton.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, at the Darby Clubhouse with a potluck reception following.The family suggests that memorials be made in Chuck's name to a charity of the donor's choice.
