Roy E. Hoke
Roy E. Hoke, 85, of Sheridan died Aug. 4, 2007, in Sheridan VA Medical Center. Funeral services will be later. Arrangements are with Champion Ferries Funeral Home. Mr. Hoke was born Aug. 29, 1921, in Washo, Mont., to Jess and Alta (Copple) Hoke. The family moved to Belfry, Mont., when he was 9, and he attended schools there. He worked on a ranch south of Belfry until October 1942, when he joined the U.S. Navy. He was honorably discharged in October 1945. He married Lidia Reichel on Jan. 22, 1943, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho. After the war, he returned to the Belfry area, where the family lived for 10 years before moving to Billings. Mr. Hoke worked for Great Western Sugar Co. in Billings for 30 years, retiring in 1985. He had resided at Sheridan VAMC for 10 years. He enjoyed his horses, writing poetry and collecting antiques. He was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. Survivors include his wife of Billings; two sons, Richard and Dennis, both of Billings; four sisters, Thelma Bailey of Salt Lake City, Dora Jackson of Belfry, Alta Yates of Powell and Mickey Thiel of Butte, Mont.; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Roy E. "Bud" Hoke, 85, of Billings, died Saturday, Aug. 4, 2007, in the Sheridan VA Medical Center. Mr. Hoke was born Aug. 29, 1921, in Washoe to Jess and Alta (Copple) Hoke. He moved with his family to Belfry when he was 9 years old and attended schools in Belfry. Mr. Hoke worked on a ranch just south of Belfry until joining the Navy in October of 1942. Roy is survived by his wife, Lidia of Billings; two sons, Richard and Dennis Hoke, both of Billings; four sisters, Thelma Bailey of Salt Lake City, Utah, Dora Jackson of Belfry, Alta Yates of Powell, Wyo., and Mickey Thiel of Butte; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
