HARRISON-YATES William Harrison and Bertha Yates were married at the home of the bride's aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. John Thorpe, of Sheridan precinct, Wednesday, Jan. 6 at two o'clock, in the presence of one hundred guests, Rev. C. W. Wells officiating. Janie Vicary played the wedding march as the couple entered the room. Claude Hall acted as groomsman and bridesmaid. After the ceremony the guests adjourned to the dining room and partook of a bountiful dinner. The following is a list of the useful and beautiful presents received: Mrs. Ann Harrison and Geo. Harrison by his mother, Lelia B. Harrison. It is not known from what newspaper it came but probably from the Clay Center newspaper. ROBERT WILLIAM HARRISON (obituary) Robert William Harrison was born March 18, 1872 to William and Ann Harrison. He departed this life April 9, 1956 at the age of 84 years, three weeks and one day. He was born near Racine, Wisconsin. and at the age of 18 months moved with his parents to Clay County, where he spent the rest of a long and active life. On January 6, 1904 he was united in marriage to Bertha Yates and moved to his farm in this community. To this union were born four children, Homer William of St. Helens, Ore., Lester Franklin of Brighton, Colorado, Hannah Pearl Overturf of Edgar, Nebr. and Archie Gerald of Oakridge, Oregon. Mr. Harrison was preceded in death by his wife who left this life June 29, 1936. He was a member of the Methodist Church in Clay Center. He was always a good neighbor and willing to do all he could for his many friends. He is survived by his children; 17 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one brother, Bert of Harvard, other relatives and a host of friends. CARDS OF THANKS We wish to thank our neighbors and friends for their kind deeds and words of sympathy in the death of our beloved father and grandfather. Be assured they will be long remembered. Robert William Harrison's death certificate is numbered 56 - 003566. He died in rural Edgar, Nebraska. The cause of his death is given as coronary thrombosis due to hypertension which he had had for years. The burial in Marshall Union cemetery was 12 March 1956. Kohler Mortuary in Sutton handled the arrangements. Another news clipping from Lelia Harrison is dated Thursday, April 19, 1956: Rev. Harvey Schroeder of Kearney conducted funeral services for Will Harrison in the Emmanuel church and in Marshall Union Cemetery Friday afternoon, April 13. Mr. Harrison passed away Monday night, April 9, at the age of 84 years. Relatives and friends from a distance who attended the services were Archie Harrison of Oak Ridge, Ore., Homer Harrison of St. Helens, Ore., Lester Harrison and daughter, Veronica of Brighton, Colo., Mrs. Marion Harrison and children of Ong, Bert Harrison and daughter, Edith of Harvard, Mrs. Floyd Briggs of Flagler, Colo., Mrs. John R. Thorp and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Zeigler of Nelson, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Mohnike of Hastings, Mrs. Anna Vossler, Conrad Ohs and Miss Clara Ohs of Friend, and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Harrison and Elmer Harrison of Wauneta, Mr. and Mrs. Willis Hall of Inland. Lunch after the services of Mr. Harrison was served at the Max Overturf home by the W.S.W.S. of the Emmanuel church. The marriage record for Robert William Harrison and Bertha Morton Yates is recorded in the marriage records of Clay County, Nebraska on page 519. Robert William was age 31 and Bertha was age 20 when they were married at the bride's residence in the presence of Claude H. Hall and Anna M. Yates. The wedding took place on the 6th of January 1904. C. W. Wells was the presiding minister. Robert W. Harrison bought N1/2 NW1/4 SE1/4 Sec. 18 T 6 N R 5 W from George P. Harrison for the sum of $1300.00 on the 13th June 1908. The papers were signed in the presence of J. L. Campbell. Recorded the 13th June 1908 by R. A. Byrket, deputy clerk. Recorded in Book 57 page 297. Albert Hall and his wife, Elizabeth A. Hall sold to Robert W. Harrison the E1/2 NE1/4 sec. 18 T6N R5W for the sum of nine thousand dollars. These papers were signed the 27th of September 1922 in the presence of H. B. Campbell. The warranty deed was recorded in Book 70 on page 451 the 9th of October 1922 by J. L. Perry, deputy clerk. George P. and Robert W. Harrison bought the NW1/4 SW1/4 Sec. 18 and the NE 1/4 NW 1/4 Sec. 17 T6N R5W consisting of 80 acres from Alfred J. Anthay for the sum of one thousand dollars. This sum was to be paid on or before 23 May 1907. The interest of 6% per annum was to be paid annually. These papers were signed in the presence of J. L. Campbell, a notary public the 23rd May 1899. Recorded in Book 65 on page 277 on the 31st May 1899 by J. L. Perry, deputy clerk. There was a one dollar fee to record these papers. On the 3rd November 1922, Robert W. and Bertha Harrison and the Federal Land Bank of Omaha entered into a mortgage agreement of 4200 dollars. The land involved in this mortgage was E1/2 NE1/4 Sec. 18 T6N R5W consisting of 80 acres. The principal to be paid was $4200 at 51/2% interest with sixty-nine payments of $136.50 beginning 1 May 1923. The papers were signed on the 6th November 1922 in from of R. A. Byrit, notary public. Mortgage deed recorded in Book 111 on page 473 by J. L. Perry, deputy clerk. This mortgage was released by the land bank the 17th January 1944. H. A. Vierguty, Vice President of the Land Bank signed the release with secretary Wayne E. Smith before Helen Herren, notary public. E. L. Lund was a witness. This release was recorded 21st January 1944 in Book 130 on page 310 by Ray Oakley, registrar of deeds. On 20th May 1939, Robert W. Harrison sold to Homer W. Harrison for the sum of one dollar and love and affection the E1/2 of NE1/4 Sec 18 T6N R5W. Homer agreed to pay the remainder of the mortgage on this land. The amount being $2300.68. This warranty deed record was signed in the presence of Mollie Deines, notary public. The warranty deed recorded the 20th May 1939 in Book 80 on page 63 by Roy Oakley, registrar of deeds. Robert W. Harrison sold to Archie G. Harrison the E1/2 N1/2 NW1/4 Sec. 17 T6N R5W in Clay county, Nebraska for the sum of one dollar and love and affection on the 20th December 1943. This deed record was signed in the presence of S. W. Moger, notary public. The deed was filed to be recorded with the registrar of deeds the 13th April 1956. It is recorded in Book 90 on page 810 of Lo Ree Oakley, registrar of deeds by deputy, Janet Hajney. Also on the 20th December 1943, Robert William Harrison sold to Hannah Pearl Overturf the W1/2 N1/2 NW1/4 Section 17 T6N R5W in Clay county, Nebraska for the sum of one dollar and love and affection. This deed was also signed in front of S. W. Moger and filed to be recorded the 13th April 1956. This deed recorded in Book 91 on page 5 by Janet Hajney, deputy registrar for Lo Ree Oakley, Register of Deeds. Robert W. Harrison and Bertha sold to Albert Harrison the N 1/2 NW 1/4 Se 1/4 Section 18 T6N R5W for the sum of two thousand dollars. These papers were signed the 22nd September 1922 in the resence of H. B. Campbell, a notary public. This warranty deed recorded the 30th September 1922 in Book 70 on page 441 by J. L. Perry, deputy clerk for Ernest Frisch, county clerk. Albert and Grace Harrison sold the NE 1/4 NW 1/4 Section 17 T6N R5W containing 40 acres to R. W. Harrison for eight hundred dollars. This land being in the Sheridan township of Clay County, Nebraska. This deed signed the 25th May 1899 in the presence of J. L. Perry and Harriet Mounlton. It was recorded in Book 45 on page 25 by J. L. Perry, deputy clerk for George Mitchell, county clerk. On the 9th July 1902, Grant and Eva Harrison sold to R. W. Harrison for the sum of one thousand two hundred dollars the NW 1/4 NW 1/4 Section 17 T6N R5W. This warranty deed was signed on this day in the presence of W. W. Campbell and W. T. Griess. This deed recorded by W. W. Campbell, county clerk on the 9th July 1902 in Book 48 on page 204.
