Notes about Jannetje Drieënhuizen

Jannetje woonde met het gezin in de Palmstraat 11 te Utrecht van d e zomer 1904 tot de zomer van 1918, het jaar dat haar echtgenoot overl eed.

Zij had een vrouw in dienst die haar het werk uit handen nam. Deze vro uw transpireerde altijd hevig en vermoedelijk maakte ze weinig gebrui k van water en zeep. Als zij de huiskamer binnenkwam, ging zoon Andrie s Dirk altijd voor het raam staan, zogenaamd naar buiten kijken onde r het slaken van: Wat een LUCHT, sjongejongejonge, wat een LUCHT, hetg een bij de overige broers en zussen gegrinnik opleverde. De vrouw dach t nooit dat het op haar betrekking had en vaak merkte zij op: nou, da t valt anders best mee vandaag, wat de vrolijkheid nog meer aanwakkerd e. Hun moeder hoefde alleen maar te kijken om hardop gelach in de kie m te smoren, zij had er stevig de wind onder.

Een andere werkster Jeltje, opvolgster van de zeeploze vrouw, sprak o ntzettend plat Utrechts en was wel wat te amicaal tegen Jannetje, di e ze aansprak met de juf of de juffer. Dat zinde haar niet en zij lie t de hulp haar aanspreken met mevrouw en zij deed veel moeite haar he t platte taaltje af te leren. Jeltje antwoordde: 'k zel d'r aan denk e as ik ter aan denk, juffr.
Uiteindelijk oogste Jannetje enig sukses, toen zij eters kreeg en Jelt je de tafel moest dienen: Mevroo, verekskuseer, kan ik nu de kopjes ko fje inschenken of wilt u, mevroo, nog een stonde wachten?

De zonen en dochters vielen zowat van hun stoel van verbazing, dat wa s een te groot contrast met wat ze van Jeltje gewend waren.

Het vlees braden deed Jannetje altijd zelf, maar Jeltje moest de voorb ereidingen doen, zoals de reuzel smelten. Daarna waarschuwde ze Jannet je en op diezelfde dag kwam Jeltje met de aankondiging: Mevroo, de kad en zijn klaar, zel ik ze zoden en peperen of kom u ze zelf zoden en pe peren? Jannetje ging naar de keuken, maar keek eerst waarschuwend rond , zodat er niet hartelijk werd gelachen.

Een andere anecdote: Tante Anna had een vrijer, die zulke klapzoenen g af of liever uitdeelde aan tante bij het afscheid nemen in de gang, da t het zelfs de overige gezinsleden in de huiskamer niet ontging. Zoo n Andries (alweer!) klapte dan bij elke klapzoen stevig in z'n hande n zo van: klets,- dag Anna-klets,-tot overmorgen-klets, -slaap lekke r Anna-...tot groot vermaak van de andere broers en zussen.
Jannetje verbood dat en op een avond trok Andries zich tactisch teru g op het toilet en vanuit dit kamertje deed hij voortaan de begeleidin g van de afscheidsceremonie en wel zo hard dat het in de huiskamer dui delijk was te horen, weliswaar alleen het handgeklap, maar binnen kend e men de woorden dus............

Bovenstaande anecdotes zijn verteld door Jannetje's zoon Henk aan zij n dochter Toet.

Na het overlijden van haar echtgenoot Johannes heeft zij lange tijd i ngewoond bij haar zoon Jo in de pastorie van Leerdam en later bij haa r dochter Bélia aan de Vondellaan 11 bis in Utrecht, waar zij in 194 1 is overleden
