Tante Anna woonde met haar man in het bruggewachtershuisje bij het riviertje de Donge in Raamsdonksveer. Willem was landbouwer en baatte thuis ook een cafeetje uit. Mijn vader en moeder zijn daar regelmatig naartoe gefietst.
Mijn herinnering is die van een oude dame (weduwe) die vaak op zondag met de bus bij ons thuis op bezoek kwam. Je kon haar lekker voor de gek houden door van de broodschaal alleen maar worstenbroodjes en krentenbollen te pakken. Ze riep dan steevast tegen mijn moeder: Jo, hij eet weer alle worstenbroodjes op !
Enkele keren ben ik met ome Jan, de broer van mijn moeder, haar huisje aan de buitenkant gaan schilderen. Dat was altijd best gezellig, alleen de koffie en gebakken eieren hadden al de hele ochtend op het fornuis gestaan.
