He and Joe (Bernadine/aka Dena's brother) were very good friends, playing musical instruments for dances on weekends. Bernadine was 23 years old, and Frank 18 years older, when they married. Dena reported he was the kindest, most gentle man, and had a teasing manner. He would share everything he had with anyone who needed it. Frank was very intelligent and read a great deal. He was very interested in history and a genius at math. He could tell how many feet of lumber was in a tree, just by looking at it. Frank was a veteran of WW1 and was injured by nerve gas and suffered from poor health for much of his 86 years. | |Before and at the time he and (Aunt) Dena married, he was the job boss for building power lines through that part of the country, possibly for a company called Stern & Webster (from what Helen remembers). Many people worked for him, including Joe and maybe Herman Hillen (grandma catherine's 2nd husband)
