They arrived in New York March 26, 1913. Cornelia is noted as going to the U.S. to join her brother D. P. v.d. Bergh living at 108 E. Lake Street, Minneapolis. Her appearance is described as 5'6", fair complexion, black hair, grey eyes.
1920 Minnesota Census: Cornelia (39) is listed as living in Minneapolis City (W. Div., 14th precinct), Hennepin Co. with her husband William, son Henry, and daughters Gertrude and Annie. It states she immigrated to the U.S. from Holland in 1913.
1930 Minnesota Census: Cornelia (50) is listed as living in Minneapolis City (ward 12, block 200), Hennepin Co. with her husband William, son Henry and daughter Anne. It states she immigrated to the U.S. from Holland in 1913 and is a naturalized citizen.
Cornelia Bakker's death certificate (ID#1963-MN-027381) lists her as a widow. Her death occurred at General Hospital i n Minneapolis. The immediate cause of death was ventricular fibrillation, suffered for 10 minutes; due to acute myocardial infarction, suffered 4 hours; due to arteriosclerotic heart disease, suffered for an unknown length of time.
From the Minneapolis Morning Tribune, Tuesday, October 15, 1963: "BAKKER--Cornelia P., age 83, 3445 Snelling Ave. So ., Mpls. Survived by 2 daughters, Mrs. Theodore (Gertrude ) Goble and Mrs. George (Ann) Lenox, both of Kimball, son Henry Baker of Mpls.; 4 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren . Services Wednesday 3 p.m. Sundseth Anderson Funeral Home . Interment Sunset Memorial Park. All memorials may be directed to Bethel Lutheran Church."
