He immigrated in 1896 to USA. Grandpa loved to tell the story of how he and his mother sailed on a clipper ship when he was 5 years old. It was the sister ship of the Thermopylae, and they were on their way to Australia. His mother had to be young and beautiful, because the captain insisted that they sit at the captain's table every night for dinner. Grandpa had vivid memories of the Great Earthquake of 1906. He and his parents were living in the city. That morning the chimney from the house next door crashed through his bedroom window during the shaking. He was age 12, so he had to go exploring. But he was wearing red ladies' high heels, so every time he would move up the street a couple of steps he would slide back down. He lived on 9 Dec 1917 at Havre, Montana, USA.
