So Corbet Peacock's grandmother's maiden name was Corbet -- I suppose there is a relationship here to the larger Corbet familys http://en.wikipedia.org;wiki;Corbet_family;
I dont think Corbet, WC, or any of the other children spoke about their father. My mother never knew nor did her father Frank. I eventually sorted it out on line. His name was William Francis Peacock I have his family tree going back to the late 1700s where they started in Easingwold, England. A grave stone in a church yard marks his grave.WF Peacock was put into debtors prison in the mid 1800s and the children were sent to separate families. His wife worked in a tavern; hotel. Corbet went to the Isle of Man. WC stayed with the mother. Annie E and her brother Frank went to 2 other families. When Annie E married Buchley they all joined in her house. Later the 3 boys headed to Sea. WC to New Zealand, Frank and Corbet to Wyoming. Frank was shot in 1880 and Corbet, at 18 years old, went to Denver and started his Family. WC made it from New Zealand to Hawaii. Corbet joined WC in a business in Australia eventually selling the Peacock Plow. After 3 years this ended and Corbet went to Hawaii as a quieter liquor businessman. If you goggle WF Peacock you can read some of his books for free. Original copies are costly and rare and I only have one. In 1860s he wrote the worlds first several travel books and later ended up near Wroclaw, Silesia, Poland.

The first mention I can find about Peacock is for 1897 in the Australian Dictionary of Biography, 1988.
"In 1897 Quinlivan was engaged by the Melbourne agricultural machinery maker, W. C. Peacock & Bro., to sell a new disc plough. He also agreed to assign to the firm any improvements he might make to the implement and soon passed on his design for a better raising and lowering mechanism. When he developed a steering gear which, he believed, was not covered by the agreement, he lost a Supreme Court case and incurred costs of over £600, a significant financial burden.(1)
W C Peacock & Bro are listed in the Sands & McDougall directories from 1899 to 1901, no listing for 1902. The 1899 listing is for W.C & C.A. Peacock (of Sturt St Sth Melb) making Spalding-Robbins Steel frame rotary disc ploughs.(2)
There has been mystery around the short lived nature of the company - new info has arrived - WC & CA Peacock were Englishmen based in Hawaii, and for some reason returned there after a short buisness venture in Australia (ozwrenches and Joe Hanke, Great Grandson of CA Peacock).
W C Peacock was the assignee of several patents for the short while that the WCP & Bro company, ploughmakers of Melbourne were in business. It appears Peacock was an investor in this regard, backing inventors such as Samuel Fyfe for inventions of can and bottle labelling machines and James Barnicott Garde for his Rotary Disc Plow US Patent No. 619,560, dated February 14,1899.
