. Your mother was the youngest child and was diligent in school. After she left school, she dedicated herself to the store. When she was eighteen, she was married off to your father Abraham Lichtenstein from Gumbin, Poland. That was right at the time when her father, because of his diligence, received permission from the government to build a house in Schildberg. This is worth mentioning because at that time no Jew was allowed to do so. When the house was ready, they held the wedding, but the couple stayed in the parents' house for six more years. Your paternal grandparents were from Gumbin, where your grandfather was a famous rabbi. Because of his extraordinary learning, he was given the moniker "good Jew."
Your mother was born in Kempen in 1800. When she was six, her parents moved to Schildberg in the province of Posen, where they had a magnificent wine store combined with a material goods and drapery store. Your grandfather was a wonderful Talmudist, and in consequence was a rabbi in Schildberg, unsalaried because of his affluence. Because of this, the running of the store rested mainly in the hands of your grandmother. After their children had reached a certain age, they were a big help to her. They had four children in all, two boys and two girls. The oldest son, Mendel Berel Pick, married in Schildberg and took over his parents' store. The younger son, Anschel Berel PIck, married in Kempen. Both did well and were very devout and pious. Your mother's older sister married a Joseph Muehsam from Pitschen, né Pappenheim, who, because of his tremendous diligence and untiring activity, received the name Muehsam from the king
