~~1~~ "Mrs. Mary Hatcher made a will in 1750 in Albemarle Co., VA., and gave a token bequest to her daughter 'Ann Bundrum'." For many years, the identity of Mary's Husband has eluded the Bondurant families best researchers. In October, 2006, Ruby Smith, Carolyn Cootes, and Mary Bondurant Warren worked for a week at the Virginia State Library and Archives, and found the will of Edward Tanner, signed Aug. 13, 1719, proved Nov. 2, 1719. The children in Edward's will matches the children in Mrs. Mary Hatcher's will. This led these researchers to conclude that Ann Tanner's mother was Mary Hatcher. This leads me to conclude that they accept the likelihood that while Mary Hatcher kept the "Mrs." after her husband, Edward Tanner died, she returned to her maiden name, Hatcher. They apparently conclude that Mrs. Mary Hatcher and Mrs. Mary Tanner were the same person, and the mother of Ann Tanner, and the "Ann Bundrum" in the will.6, Number 72h that she had paid Edward Stewart (who married Martha, one of the daughters of the said Edward Tanner) the legacy given said Martha by said Tanner's will and that said Stewart refusing to give a discharge for same; Stewart appeared and said he had not received his wife's full legacy, whereupon court having considered allegations of parties and the depositions of evidence sworn are of opinion that said Stewart hath received the whole legacy given his wife aforesaid.ry Hatcher, of Henrico County, for 25 currency, 160 acres on south side James River in Henrico County, adjoining Thomas Knibb, Peter Ashbrook, Jr. and William Baugh, being plantation whereon Edward Stewart now lives.
