"Herman Harms, Sr., 87
Funeral services for Herman Harms, Sr., 87, were held Monday, October 6, 10:30 a.M. at Ramsey Reformed Church, rural Titonka, with Rev. Dennis Redeker officiating. Interment was at Ramsey Reformed Church Cemetery withGarry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Donna Dressman was the organist and Judy and Troy Junkermeier were the vocalists. The congregation participated in the singing of a hymn. Casketbearers were his grandsons: Alan Burgardt, Kevin McDonald, Brian Moore, Cory Harms, ScottPersing, Nicholas Harms, Chris Harms, and Rick Harms.
Herman Harms, Sr. was born August 1, 1910 on the family farm in Ramsey Township, rural Titonka, to John A. and Grace (Meyer) Harms. Herman attended rural schools near Titonka and worked on the farm with his parents.
On February 11, 1937, Herman was married to Wyona Gruis at rural Buffalo Center. The couple farmed near Titonka all their married life until they retired in 1971 and moved into Titonka.
Herman was a member of Ramsey Reformed Church, rural Titonka, and a former member of the Saddle Club. Herman enjoyed fishing, playing cards, horses and farming but his real love was playing with his grandchildren andgreat-grand-children.
Herman became a resident of the Titonka Care Center in March, 1995. He died on Friday afternoon, October 3, 1997 at North Iowa Mercy Health Center in Mason City.
Survivors include his wife, Wyona, of Titonka; two daughters: Gladys Hansen and husband, Loren, of Titonka, and Janice Moore and husband Rollo, of Titonka; six sons: Harold Harms and wife, Sandra, of Titonka; Robert Harms and wife, Linda,of Buffalo Center; Herman Harms, Jr. and wife, Lennice, of Titonka; Roger Harms and wife, Carol, of Titonka; Daryl Harms and wife Cheryl, of Spencer and Irvin Harms and wife, Debra, of Titonka. Also surviving are 21 grandchildren, 13great-grandchildren and two sisters-in-law, Harmka and Lena Harms.
Herman was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, two sisters and one grandson, Neal."
