GEORGE, Iowa -- Mahlon King Stubbe, 48, of George died suddenly Monday, June 6, 2005, while working on a construction site in Le Mars, Iowa.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church in George, with the Revs. Tom Greaves and Rick Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be 1:30 to 8 p.m. Friday, with the family present 6:30 to 8 p.m., at George Community Center. Arrangements are under the direction of Greenwood Funeral Home in Cherokee, Iowa. Mahlon was born March 12, 1957, in Rock Rapids, Iowa, to Charles H. and Jean (Jamieson) Stubbe. He was baptized at Ebenezer Presbyterian Church. He attended school in George, graduating from George High School in 1975. He attended Western Iowa Tech Community College in Sioux City.
He worked for the Farmer's Co-op in Correctionville, Iowa, for many years. He later worked for Coffee King in Sioux City and was currently employed with Mathers Construction.
He was an avid sports fan, enjoying NASCAR races, bowling and camping in the outdoors. He also enjoyed reading.
Survivors include a daughter, Rebecca Stubbe of Sioux City; a grandson, Micah Stubbe of Sioux City; his mother, Jean Stubbe of George; brothers and their wives, Dennis and Diane Stubbe of Alton, Iowa, Charles and Sandy Stubbe of Cherokee, Iowa, and Brent and Mary Stubbe of Madison, Wis.; sisters and their husbands, Zoe Ann and Robert Madsen of Merritt Island, Fla., Glee and Paul Wiersma of George and Jill and Gary Schmitt of Lee Summit, Mo.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles in 1992; and a sister, Linda Spiller in 1995."
