SIOUX CITY -- Jayne "Viola" Stubbe Earley, 73, of Sioux City died Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2010, at a Sioux City hospital.
Memorial services will be 7 p.m. Monday at Morningside Chapel, Christy-Smith Funeral Home, with Pastor Jennifer Santer of Third Presbyterian Church officiating. Visitation will be 4:30 to service time Monday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.christysmith.com.
Jayne "Viola" was born in George, Iowa, on April 15, 1936, to Henry and Bessie (Mammenga) Stubbe. She grew up and attended school in George, graduated from George and came to Sioux City to attend nursing school at the Methodist Hospital. She later attended Westmar College in Le Mars, Iowa, obtaining her B.A. She continued her education by obtaining her master's from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, S.D. She came to Sioux City for nursing school and had been a resident of the Siouxland area ever since.
She married James H. Earley on April 26, 1959, in George, Iowa. Jayne was employed with St. Luke's Hospital in Sioux City, and later with the University of Iowa -- Child Development office, which was located at St. Luke's Hospital.
She was of the Presbyterian faith. She enjoyed watching the Explorers, hockey games, cardinal collecting, Winney the Pooh, reading, going to Vick's Corner, antiquing, growing tomatoes and flowers and taking care of her house plants.
Survivors include her daughter, Laura Earley of Sioux City; two sons, David and Dee Earley and Jeffrey Earley and his significant other, Bobbi Kleinberg, all of Sioux City; and five grandchildren, Tyler, Shiloh, Syrlana, Jeffery and Jason.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters and a brother."
