Mrs. W. M. P. Sapp, 86, a long time resident of this city, died at the Nelson Nursing Home in Newton Thursday, January 8th, 1959, at 5 o'clock P. M. Mrs. Sapp had been a resident of the Nursing home for approximately four years. Her death was brought about by the frailities of age.
Mrs. Sapp was born Ella May Pearse, December 25th 1872 in Manchester, Iowa, the daughter of Nancy D. Coleman and Julian M. Pearse. Her mother died one month later and Ella was raised by her uncle, James B. Coleman near Prairie City, Iowa. She was known in her youth as Ella Coleman.
On July 1st, 1897 she was united in marriage with W. M. P. Sapp. To this union were born eight children one of whom died in infancy. Mr. Sapp preceded her in death a few years ago.
Mrs. Sapp is survived by five sons and two daughters; Foyd, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Ralph, Los Angeles, Calif., Mrs. Thomas L. (Adah) Manley of Colo, Iowa; V. Alain of Knoxville, Iowa, Paul, Colfax, Ray of Chicago and Mrs. Robt. (Miriam) Bannister of Cedar Falls, Iowa. Six grandchildren, Thos. L. Manley, Jr., Pittsburg, Pa., Jean Manley, now Mrs. LeRoy Pickles of Iowa Falls, Edwin J. Stock, Maryville, Mo., Alvira Stock Morris, Jr. of Cedar Falls, Charles W. Sapp, Ames and Cynthia Sapp, of this city, plus 2 step grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren also mourn her passing.
Mrs. Sapp had the pleasure of seeing all her children graduated from the Colfax High School.
She had been a member of the Methodist Church for 65 years and belonged to the Royal Neighbors of America an the Rebekah Lodge for forty years.
In addition to the family she leaves to mourn her loss a host of friends and admirers.
Burial was in the Waveland cemetery at Prairie City, Iowa
