"Baptist Church in Buffalo Center with the Rev. Brian Burck of Temple Baptist Church, Thompson officiating. Interment was in Olena Mound Cemetery with Winter Funeral Service in charge of arrangements.

Casketbearers were Mathew Meinders, Eugene Meinders, Gene Brass, Ricky Folkerts, David Folkerts and Dennis Folkerts. Mrs. Vera Bronleewe was the organist and music was by Tom and Becky Thompson.

Fred J, Meyering was born April 22, 1926 in Buffalo Center to Tony and Annie Meyering. He lived with his family in the Buffalo Center area.

He married Dorothy Meinders on July 23, 1947 in Blue Earth, Minnesota. He was a member of the Temple Baptist Church of Thompson.

Mr. Meyering was a retired farmer and had been living in Thompson for the past seven years.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy, of Thompson; three sons, Sherman Meyering, Garner; Larry Meyering, Thompson; Tim Meyering, Forest City; his mother, Annie Meyering of Buffalo Center; a brother, Johnnie Meyering, Clear Lake, threesisters, Everdena Folkerts, Thompson; Fannie Smidt, Buffalo Center and Annie Wepel, Buffalo Center and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, Tony Meyering; his brother, Richard Meyering and a son, Roger Meyering." <>

"Henrietta Brass, 89 Henrietta Brass, of Buffalo Center, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 26, 2011, at the Timely Mission Nursing Home in Buffalo Center.

Funeral Services for Henrietta were held on Saturday April 30, 2011 at the First Reformed Church in Buffalo Center with Rev. Bill Peake officiating. Special music was by Mary Steen. Marlene Krull was the organist. Casket bearers wereTravis Brass, Caleb Churchill, Braden Ortman, Colby Churchill, Chad Ortman and Robert Gene Ortman. Honorary Bearers were Tara Ortman, Casey Churchill, Elisheba Churchill, Kaitlin Ortman, Saydee Churchill, Alicia Brass, Celsy Churchill,Molly Churchill, Zachary Churchill, and Madelyn Churchill. Interment was at Olena Mound Cemetery in Buffalo Center.

Henrietta (Meinders) Brass, daughter of George and Maggie (Steen) Meinders, was born on August 2, 1921 at Buffalo Center.

On January 30, 1947, she was united in marriage to Eddie Brass at the First Reformed Church in Buffalo Center. This marriage was blessed with two children, Gene and Janet.

She was baptized and confirmed at the First Reformed Church and was an active member of the RCWM, Dorcas Circle, and the Kossuth County Lincoln Township Birthday Club until entering the Timely Mission Nursing Home two years ago.

She was known by her grandchildren for making the best pancakes and scalloped corn.

Left to Cherish her memory are her son, Gene (Marilyn) Brass of Buffalo Center; her daughter, Janet Churchill of Mahtomedi, MN; six grandchildren: Tara Ortman of Union, MS; Travis (Alicia) Brass of Lakota, IA; Colby (Elisheba) Churchillof White Bear Lake, MN; Caleb (Molly) Churchill of Woodbury, MN; Casey Churchill of Duluth, MN; Celsy Churchill of Mahtomedi, MN; son-in-law, Jim Churchill of White Bear Lake, MN; grandson-in-law, Chad Ortman of Burt, IA;great-grandchildren: Braden, Kaitlin, and Robert Gene Ortman of Burt; Saydee Churchill of White Bear Lake; Zachary and Madelyn Churchill of Woodbury; sister Dorothy Meyering of Buffalo Center; brother, Raymond (Maureen) Meinders ofBellevue, NE; sisters-in-law, Jennie Frerichs of Buffalo Center and Lillian Brass of Garner, IA; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Dick Steen was born in Germany on January 28, 1863; he came to America and worked at Wellsburg, Iowa. Henrietta Kaiser was born in Germany on January 7, 1875 and came with her parents to America. Dick and Henrietta were married atWellsburg on March 1, 1895. They moved to Buffalo Center in 1903 and farmed southeast of town. Their children were: Minnie, Maggie, Jennie, George, Fannie, Ida, John, Dickie, Louie, and William. Dick died on October 24, 1942 andHenrietta on August 19, 1975.

Minnie was born at Wellsburg and passed away on June 21, 1975. Maggie was born at Wellsburg on December 14, 1896; she was married to George Meinders on February 6, 1918, and they had four children: Vergie (died in infancy), Henrietta,Dorothy, and Raymond. ... Dorothy Meyering, 90, passed away on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt. A funeral service was held on Friday, November 7 at 10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Buffalo Center, with Pastor KenQuintus officiating and Nancy Klukow as Organist.

On July 23, 1947 she was united in marriage to Fred Meyering at Blue Earth, Minnesota. They farmed at Buffalo Center and Crystal Lake for many years. To this union were born 4 children – Roger who died in infancy, Sherman, Larry and Tim.In 1977 they moved to Thompson, and went into the trucking business. After the death of her husband in 1984, Dorothy worked at the Thompson Senior Center for 10 years. She enjoyed reading, jig saw puzzles, playing cards, cooking, visiting, gardening, and her grandchildren. She was a longtime member of theFirst Baptist Church in Buffalo Center. In November of 2010, Dorothy became a resident of Timely Mission Nursing Home in Buffalo Center. She passed away on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt.
