Delavan - - Funeral services for Hillard Abbas, 81, Delavan, who died Tuesday, Aug. 4, 1970, at Mapleton Community Home, are to be held this afternoon, Thursday, at the Delavan Methodist Church. The Rev. David Mead and the Rev. GeorgeHamilton will officiate. Burial will be in the Bass Lake Cemetery.

Mr. Abbas was born Jan. 14, 1889. He farmed in the Delavan area until his retirement. He has lived the past two years in Mapleton Community Home.

Survivors include his wife, Freeda, seven daughters, Mrs. Ray Johnson of Lake Lillian, Mrs. William Purdy of Lancaster, Calif., Mrs. Steve Tjaden of Lakota, Iowa, Mrs. Ben Hayes of Buffalo Center, Iowa, Mrs. Clarence Wallace and Mrs.William Whitney Jr., both of Delavan, and Mrs. Don Purdie of Fairbault; three sons, Arthur and Walter of Winnebago and Ernest of New Ulm; a sister, Mrs. Herman Schamberg of Orting, Wash.; a brother, Tues Abbas of Osakis, Minn.; 34grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.

Hillard Abbas and Freida Nelson of this place were married Wednesday at the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Nelson. Rev. Arends of the Presbyterian church performed the ceremony. We, with their many friends, wish them along and happy life in their new home.

Two new telephones have been installed the last part of the week, one for, John Craig,' north of town, his number being 15 on B, and one in the West Warburtan residence, their number being 18.

"EIELT AND fRAUKE (KNIPPER) ABBAS

"Eielt Abbas and his wife Frauke Knipper came to America in 1890 and settled first in the area near Cleves, Hardin County, Iowa. Eielt had two brothers who also settled in that area. By 1897 they had moved to Lincoln Township, KossuthCounty, which is just west of Buffalo Center. Eventually all seven of their children also came to this country.

Eielt Engelke Abbas was born April 19, 1941 at Heerenland, Ostfriesland, Germany. He was the youngest of eight children of Engelke Arends Abbas and Antje Helmers Teriel. Frauke Eilderts Knipper was born July 6, 1836 at Boen,Ostfriesland, Germany. She was the daughter of Eildert Knipper and Eilerdina Geerds Frieling. Eielt and Frauke were married in March of 1862 in Ostfriesland, Germany.

Frauke died March 19, 1897 in Lincoln Township, Kossuth County. Eielt continued to live and work in and around Buffalo Center until his death in 1920. Eielt and Frauke are buried in Olena Mound Cemetery.

Their children were: ... 4) Teus was born June 8, 1868. He married Annie Burma. She died in 1913 and he latger remarried, to Buckholt. He had eight children: Hicky, Pete, Teus, Bertha, Katie, Hillard, Fannie and Annie. ..."
