Ubbe Behrens Winter, son of Benjamin and Hattie Winter was born January 27, 1883 at Hammswehrum Provence Germany. He came to the U.S. with his parents on March 17, 1892 at the age of 9 years. At first they settled in Pekin, Ill. In1903 they moved to Buffalo Center, Iowa and later to a farm at Titonka, Iowa. On December 28, 1906 he was married to Alice Pankuk. to this union seven children were born. He farmed all of his life. Ubbe Winter was Baptized as aninfant. He was a member of the Second Reformed church of Pekin, Ill and later was transferred to the Ramsey Reformed church at Titonka, Iowa.
He was township trustee, and was a member of the odd fellows lodge. He loved and was interested in his church and gave the robes for the choir.
His first wife and a son Boyd preceded him in death. In December 1943 he was united in marriage to Maude Naylor of Mountain Grove, Mo.
Those who survive are his wife and six children, namely, Henry of Faribault, Mrs. Hilka Knutson, Vernon of Lake Mills, and thirty grandchildren and one brother Epko of Buffalo, also many other relatives and friends also of BuffaloCenter.
His parents and two brothers, Wm. and Henry preceeded him in death.
He submitted to surgery Sept. 9, 1955 at the Methodist hospital Rochester, Minn., and came home the 17th of Sept. He entered the Buffalo Center hospital Jan. 29. He spent 10 days at home and went back to hospital for 25 days. He passedaway on Thursday, March 22 at 2:35 a.m.
Services were held from Ramsey Reformed Church, Saturday, with Rev. Henry Van Dyke officiating. Burial was in the Ramsey Reformed Cemetary.
Pall bearers were: Hieko Bruns, Henry Van Hove, John Plaisier, Fred Mayland, Egbert Buss and Alrec Boekholdt. the funeral was conducted by Swan funeral Home.
Relatives and friends attending the funeral from out of town were from Harvey, Ill; Faribault, Mapleton, Fairmount, Blue Earth and Walters, Mill., Fostoria, Mason City, Esterville, Armstrong, Lake Mills, Buffalo Center, Scarville, Britt,Woden, Wesley and Lakota, Iowa. ..." <>
