3 July 1923 - Adopted by Ernest G. Ebel, 2nd hus. of Lela Bell Hill Bowles Ebel. Address ca. 1969: 11731 Clarke Rd; Columbia Sta, OH 44028
FJW & MBBEW were divorced in their retirement years. Aunt Martha lived at Golden Age Retreat in Carrollton OH prior to her death. Buried at Sunset Memorial Park with Uncle Frank.
It may be that Martha Bernice Bowels Ebel was christened twice as a child. Her brother, Joe's memorial card has date of baptism = 19 Jun 1910. Also, Uncle Joe says all of the children were baptised when Aunt Annie was a baby at a Methodist Chr in Cleveland OH.
Martha's sister, Lela Rose Bowles' christening certificate for the same date, 19 Jun 1910 + Uncle Joe saying the entire family was baptized at the same time would mean that Joe was baptized at the Rocky River M. E. Chr. in Rocky River, OH. The other living sibling at that time was William. It is my hypothesis that all 4 children were baptized on the same day. The parents might have been baptized on that data too. The records at the church were destroyed by fire in 1925. I too remember seening a photograph of a larger family with a baby, probably Aunt Annie (b. 1918) being held by a clergyman. If this were a baptismal photograph, possibly all of the children were baptized together circa 1919.The older ones might then have been rebaptized. - D.A. Navorska - Irving TX
