Per Frank Galloway in Brunswick Co., NC Query Forum 11 Jan 2000:
Ann Blount is not mentioned by name in her husband's (Edward Wingate Sr.) will, but from her father's will she can be identified as Ann Blount.

"On Oct 5, 1703, he conveyed to Wm Tanner the plantation purchased from
Hannibal Hopkins, containing 100 acres on the west side of Mattacomac
Creek... He was one of the Justices of the General Court that met at the
house of William Branch in Chowan on August 2, 1716. His will, dated Feb 12,
1716, probated April 22, 1717, mentioned his wife, Elizabeth, and children:
John, James, Anne Wingate, Elizabeth Yelverton, Mary; and grandchildren:
James and John Yelverton and Sarah Phillips." (#)

South Carolina } June the 27th day 1763
Craven County } In the name of God Amen.

I, Ann Wingate of the above mentioned Province and County, being in my proper health and senses, thanks be to God for it, calling into mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all flesh once to die do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my soul into the hands of God that gave it.
Secondly, my body to be buried in a Christian like and decent manner at the discretion of my executors nothing doubting but at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God.
And as touching this worldly estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life I give devise and dispose of it in the following manner and form.

I give to my well beloved son John Wingate whom I do nominate and appoint my sole executor of this my Last Will and Testament, my negro man named Peter, likewise my negro woman named Phillis with all my sheep and hogs, cattle excepting three cows and calves together with all my household goods except one pewter dish and three plates and one iron pot and blue colored and my wearing apparel to be equally divided between my son John's Wife and my daughter Mary Simmons. Likewise all my horses and mares being more or less to my son John Wingate and I the said Ann Wingate do utterly disallow revoke and disannull [sic] all other wills or forms or legacies or deeds of gift in any other wise given or bequeathed unto any other person or persons whatsoever ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my Last Will and Testament.

In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal in the year of our Lord 1763.

"According to the unpublished manuscript genealogy of the Blount family by Miss Helen M. Blount Prescott, pp. 3,4,9, the Anne Blount in question was the daughter of James Blount Jr., and his wife Elizabeth Blount, and granddaughter of Capt. James Blount the Immigrant and his unknown 1st wife.

This manuscript can be found in the Helen M. Prescott Papers, Southern HIstorical Collection, University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
