Parthenia Durant daughter of George and Ann Durant was born 01 August 1675 in Perquimans County. She married 1) Joseph Sutton, Sr. born 06 August 1673 Perquimans County. The will of Joseph Sutton is dated 1723 Perquimans County.

Thomas Sutton, Sr. son of Joseph and Parthenia Sutton was born 20 March 1698/9 in Perquimans County. He married 2) Judith Hardison of Bertie County. The will of Thomas Sutton, Sr. was proved 02 March 1750, Bertie County.

Below is the will of THOMAS SUTTON who is descended from GEORGE SUTTON b:1613 Kent, England m SARAH TILDEN 13 March 1635/36 in Scituate MA. They moved to NC 1668 (Perq. Co, NC). Had son NATHANIEL b ca 1646 m DEBORAH ASTINE. They had son JOSEPH SUTTON b 1673 m PARTHINIA DURANT. They had son THOMAS SUTTON (moved to Bertie County) Bertie County Will from North Carolina State Archives

THOMAS SUTTON 1750 In the Name of God amen - The third day of February in the year of our Lord One thousand Seven hundred & fifty one. I Thomas Sutton of the county of Bertie in the Province of North Carolina being very sick & weak of Body but of perfect mind & memory etc……do dispose of my worldly Estate in the following manner and form ~

I give and bequeath unto my Son Thomas Sutton Two hundred acres of Land at the West End of the Tract of Land which I once purchased of Archibald Bell & held by a Deed from George Bell to my self comonly known by the name of the Reedy Branch Land.

I give & bequeath unto my Son William Sutton Two hundred acres of the above mentioned Tract of Land joyning next to that which I have already given to my Son Thomas.

I give & bequeath unto my Son George Sutton all the remaining part of the above mentioned Tract of Land besides what I have already given to my Sons Thomas & William containing two hundred & forty Acres more or less with the Plantation which is thereon to him.

I give & bequeath unto my Son Joshua Sutton the Land & Clearing which is on the upper part of the Land whereon I now Dwell containing One hundred & fifty Acres more or less & divided from the mannour plantation by a branch comonly called the deep branch beginning at Henery King’s Line & running up the branch & that prong of the branch next the mannour plantation till it comes into my line on the other side of the Land to him.

I give & bequeath unto my Son Jesper Sutton my mannour Plantation and Land containing one hundred & Sixty Eight Acres more or less (reserving a right of Dowery in said Plantation and unto Elizabeth my well beloved Wife during her natural life).

I give & bequeath unto Elizabeth my well beloved Wife all that part of my Estate which belonged to her before I marryed her to her & to her Disposal. I give & bequeath unto my Son John Sutton One negro man named Andrew to him & to his Disposal. I give & bequeath unto my Children hereafter named (viz) William, George, Joshua, Parthenia, Mary Elizabeth, Jesper, Sarah & Judith Eight Negros (viz) Tom, Moll, Dinah, Jane, Little Moll, Dick, Hannah & Patt, they & their increases to be Equally divided amongst them at the Expiration of Six Years from this Date, reserving the use & Services of said negros during these said Six Years for the maintainance & Schoolling of my five Youngest Children.

I give & bequeath all the rest of my Estate (after the satisfaction of my Debts &c) both real & personal to be Equally divided amongst all my Children, allowing that my Sons Thomas & John has had each of them one good New feather Bed, Some Bed Cloaths, Some pewter, & some pots(?) Iron & Some Cattle to be accounted for as part of their Shares.

My further Will & desire is that my Executors hereafter named do raise money at their discretion out of my Estate to discharge & pay all my Just Debts & likewise to Defray the Charges of Entering & Surveying One hundred Acres of Land in Tyrrell County for Job Williams whereon the said Job Williams now dwells in consideration of the said Job Williams taking particular care & looking after my Stock which is at that place. And that none of my Estate be sold at Vendue, but that it be Distributed to my Wife and all my Children according to the foregoing Legacys, and that my Children do run the resque & Stand to the loss if there should be any in my Perishable Estate before a division, or after division before the Youngest Children comes of age Every One to Stand to the loss of their own part.

Lastly I make Constitute ordain & appoint my trusty & well beloved friend John Hardison of Tyrrell County & Edward Rasor of Bertie to be my whole & Sole Executors of this my Last Will and Testament. Note - The words (after the satisfaction of my Debts &c) and the words (out of my Estate) being Interlin'd before Sign'd. Signed, Sealed, published pronounced & declared by the Testator to be his Last Will and Testament in presence of - Witnesses: Peter Winants Signed: Thomas Sutton Arthur Williams Elizabeth E.
